Assist Chief Legal Officer for Claims, Litigation and Insurance (“CLO”) in claim management activities. Manage inventory of various types of insurance for the hospitals and employed providers within the Vandalia Health system. Help formulate risk mitigation strategies in conjunction with the Office of the General Counsel. Participate in discovery activities relating to claims asserted against the hospitals and employed providers within the Vandalia Health system.
Responsibilities
- Perform claim investigation, evaluation and analysis;
- Prepare reports for management by collecting, analyzing and summarizing claim information;
- Assist CLO in setting claim reserves;
- Assist with selection of expert witnesses, as appropriate;
- Perform coverage analysis and assist CLO in claims reporting;
- Monitor outside defense counsel activities and compliance with litigation guidelines;
- Manage and control defense costs and expenses;
- Represent the company by attending trials, settlement conferences, mediations, and other meetings;
- Develop loss runs and coordinate with insurance brokers;
- Compile information pertinent to insurance applications and evaluation of insurance coverage.
Perform other duties as assigned by the attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel, as needed.
