Basic Function
HF Sinclair in Anacortes, WA is seeking a Refinery Accounting Analyst to conduct and monitor basic to moderately complex accounting assignments.
Job Duties
- Prepare journal entries, maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile sub ledgers for month-end close.
- Review, analyze and develop solutions for problems or variances arising within departments.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts.
- Provide records of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions to support general ledger and financial statements.
- Reconcile various accounts and enter them into the system, ensuring the integrity of the data.
- Prepare month-end close by obtaining information from various reports, entering it into the system and verifying that debits and credits balance.
- Support cost review meetings with cost center owners, including preparation of cost files for review.
- Audit journal entries, orders, transactions and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
- Coordinate all SAP postings of pipeline, truck, marine and terminal movements, and prepare and review all periodic SAP shipper statements.
- Evaluate and remedy all SAP movement errors and prepare monthly product movement reports.
- Analyze all shipper gains and losses to ensure accuracy.
- Assist A/R and A/P in resolving billing and invoicing issues.
- Measure volumes and track actual vs. budgeted volumes by site.
- Various fuel or crude entries and other reports as necessary.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of five years of related job experience is required.
Education Level
A minimum of a High School Diploma is required.
Preferred Educational Level:
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related field is preferred. Masters or CPA is preferred, but not necessary.
Required Skills
Must have intermediate understanding of accounting practices and procedures with the ability to perform accounting analysis as needed. Working knowledge of Microsoft products, experience with accounting and maintenance software, and experience in revenue accounting is preferred. Basic reading and writing skills and the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.

None typically.
Work Conditions
Office based at a petroleum refinery location. May be required to work flexible hours.

Salary Range: The salary range includes the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salary values. A candidate's offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience.
This position has a salary minimum of $71,400, midpoint of $98,100, and maximum of $124,800.
