Position Summary
The Senior Accounting Manager, External Reporting is responsible for overseeing financial reporting and accounting initiatives of Bridgestone Americas. The position will be responsible for the preparation, consolidation, and review of financial data, managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement submissions to Bridgestone Global (Japanese parent company) as well as leading the Company’s annual statutory reporting process. Additionally, this position will support the Chief Accounting Office with accounting research and various other projects as needed, as well as leading financial statement review meetings with the business finance groups. This position will be responsible for partnering with BSAM’s external auditors to ensure all aspects of the audit process are executed timely and effectively. This position will be the point person within Finance for all things audit related, including heavy involvement in the quarterly review process, the annual financial statement audit, the BSAM standalone audit, and participation in quarterly Audit Committee meetings as needed.
The Senior Manager, External Reporting will report directly to the Assistant Corporate Controller and will have 2+ direct reports. This position will act in a leadership role and will work closely with the Chief Accounting Officer. Additionally, this position will work closely with outside consultants such as Deloitte, KPMG, EY, Willis Towers Watson, and other third-party advisors as needed.
Hybrid schedule in the office 1-3 days a week. Located in Nashville, TN @ Bridgestone HQ.
Responsibilities
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results in accordance with IFRS. This includes understanding various areas of the monthly SAP closing routine, aiding in the consolidation and review of subsidiary financial submissions, understanding the intercompany elimination process, and reviewing financial statement submissions to Japan.
Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements for Bridgestone Americas, Inc. and subsidiaries.
Partner with the Company’s external auditors in determining accounting positions while advocating on the Company’s behalf as well as host regular meetings with BSAM’s external auditor to monitor and support the quarterly and annual audit process.
Act as the point person within Finance to ensure all audit requests are provided timely.
Participate on key strategic projects requiring technical accounting guidance and perspective.
Discuss complex audit topics with external auditor and provide consistent upward communication to the Assistant Controller and Chief Accounting Officer.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Certified Public Accountant required.
7-10 years of broad-based accounting/finance experience.
Possess an advanced understanding of U.S. GAAP and/or International Financial Reporting Standards.
Thorough understanding of financial statement preparation and reporting.
Audit experience in a public accounting firm.
Accounting/financial experience in a multi-national corporation.
