Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Real Estate Accountant to join our team. The Sr. Real Estate Accountant is a shared service role by supporting various accounting needs in all our four business verticals: property management accounting, corporate accounting, development accounting as well as other real estate areas. In other words, this position is an excellent opportunity for someone who is ready to take on a senior accountant role and build up a strong and progressive accounting career in the real estate industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and experience in the real estate industry.
Job Description:
Perform accounting and reporting functions related to corporate, property management, and development of real estate for assigned properties; assist Accounting Manager(s) with financial reporting and other projects as needed.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Review and post monthly journal entries
- Monitor A/P and communicate potential A/P issues to operation/accounting teams
- Monthly posting of corporate credit card as well as periodic posting of invoices
- Perform weekly cash position and A/P selections
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Perform monthly A/P and A/R reconciliations
- Review/prepare month-end close packages: review of trial balance, income statement, balance sheet, general ledger, budget variances, workpapers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts
- Post all property level accruals
- Work as liaison by participating in bi-weekly meetings with property managers and regional managers to communicate issues arising from either accounting or operation side and work toward solutions.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years advanced accounting experience in the real estate industry required. Intermediate proficiency in Excel. Experience with One Site Account and Yardi preferred.
