BlueStar is looking for an Accounting Manager to provide accounting expertise which includes preparing journal entries, preparing and analyzing account reconciliations, completing financial analysis, preparing monthly financial statements and supporting the VP of Accounting in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department. In addition to all accounting functions, this position will engage with administrative staff, sales staff, and management to develop improvements to day-to-day accounting and closing procedures and management reporting.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Establish and Enforce Accounting Policies and Procedures
- Solely responsible for Financial Statement preparation of Canadian Division
- Shared responsibility for Financial Statement preparation of Mexican Division
- Management of one Accounts Payable/Cash Application Employee
- Maintain the General Ledger and prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
- Reconciliation of four Bank Accounts in multiple currencies
- Prepare and file Monthly Canadian Taxes
- Quarterly review of Inventory including Excess and Obsolete Analysis and Inventory Reconciliation
- Prepare Annual Budget
- Gather and complete information required for audits
- Participate in various accounting projects
- Prepare financial analysis as requested
- Collaborate with the Accounting Managers of other Divisions
- Support the VP of Accounting in meeting month-end reporting deadlines
- Support the CFO and CEO as needed
- Assist in other areas of the office as needed
Job Requirements:
- BS/BA degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years of experience required
- Experience of working in foreign currency preferred, but not required
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end accounting processes and understanding of financial statement line items
- Proven computer skills including accounting software (Oracle), and Strong Excel Skills
- Proven verbal and written communications skills
- Confirmed team player with good superior and peer relationship skills
- Successful record of effective customer relations skills.
- Self-motivated, with a proactive attitude towards work and demonstrated belief in continuous improvement
