Position Summary Information
Responsibilities
- Counsels and advises students and families about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, costs, etc.
- Oversees the daily processing of files including entrance/exit counseling, PLUS loan applications, loan increase/decrease requests, and alternative loan certifications.
- Processes C-flags pertaining to loan default, bankruptcy, maximum loan limits, and other notices hindering the automatic awarding of a student’s aid.
- Completes monthly reconciliation for loan portfolio.
- Assists in loan default management and prevention program.
- Conducts all electronic communication notices to borrowers regarding loan awards.
- Reviews student applications for accuracy and to determine financial need and award aid in accordance with applicable federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations when reviewing financial aid applications.
- Conducts financial aid presentations, which may include travel or after-hours seminars.
- Maintains confidentiality in all pertinent matters.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required.
Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills are required.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office is needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in financial aid office or higher education setting.
Knowledge of Ellucian Banner software.
Ability to work independently and efficiently.
Attention to detail.
