DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The Accounting and Finance Department provides Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Finance services to the organization.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Accounts Payable Specialist I will provide accounting services to St. Charles Health System customers, maintaining confidentiality and providing excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Perform a variety of accounting tasks involved in maintaining financial records and processing related data such as invoices, checks, and vouchers.
- Maintain interface with SCHS personnel to verify or support financial records.
- Prepare various financial and accounting forms and logs.
- Perform Accounts Payable tasks including invoice and payment processing.
- Code and enter invoices in the accounting system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Audit invoices against purchase orders and research discrepancies.
- Prepare vouchers, invoices, checks, and account statements.
- Assist with the monthly close process.
- Investigate and reconcile vendor/supplier payment issues.
- Participate in process improvement work and assist in additional projects as directed.
EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma or GED.
Preferred: Two years Accounting degree.
EXPERIENCE
Required: N/A
Preferred: Two years accounting experience.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

- Ability to work under pressure and maintain focus during hectic periods.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret supplier/vendor contracts.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Continually (75% or more): Sitting, keyboard operation, clear speaking voice. Frequently (50%): Standing, lifting 1-10 pounds. Occasionally (25%): Bending, reaching overhead. Rarely (10%): Walking, stooping/kneeling. Never (0%): Climbing ladder/step-stool.
