Looking for a motivated applicant with experience in general accounting, bank and investment reconciliations, sales tax reconciliation and reporting, accounts/financial analysis, adjusting journal entries, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Works well independently as well as in a group setting.
Performs professional accounting and treasury work, including accounts analysis, banking and investment reconciliations, and financial transactions review to support the development and maintenance of the Library’s financial record keeping and reporting functions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Performs professional analytical and technical work in the formulation and administration of the Library’s financial and treasury functions;
- Performs banking and investment reconciliations throughout the fiscal year;
- Prepares and analyzes reports on budget and actual expenditures/revenues and other subject matter;
- Participates in posting, auditing, balancing, monitoring and reconciling various general ledger accounts and subsidiary accounts, reviews general ledger for compliance with GAAP and GASB standards;
- Sets up, monitors and maintains records on general fixed assets including books and materials;
- Supports and interacts with the Finance Team in monitoring cash and banking needs;
- Processes all Accounts Receivable billings;
- Prepares complex statistical and narrative reports; completes special projects;
- Compiles and analyzes data and performs research and analysis on administrative, fiscal issues, and/or operational problems as they relate to the Library’s accounting systems and budget processes;
- Participates and assists in the implementation of new and revised programs, systems, procedures and methods of operation, as they relate to the accounting and budget processes;
- Assists in monthly and annual close process;
- Completes work papers for various support of financial statement balances; analyzes year-end accruals for anticipated revenues and expenditures;
- Files required statutory reports including but not limited to Federal, State, and other required reports on a timely basis;
- Prepares worksheets and analysis in preparation of adjusting and closing entries in support of annual audit;
- Provides backup for other Finance functions as required;
- Attends and leads meetings and events; participates in various teams;
- May participate in the design and implementation of automated financial systems;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, public or business administration, economics or a closely related field is required;
- Two years or more of progressively responsible administrative and accounting experience with at least one year performing professional level work requiring knowledge of basic accounting, budget and administrative principles;
- Public agency experience is preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, BONDING AND/OR TESTING REQUIREDPossession of a valid Class C California Driver License and proof of insurability is required.
