The Opportunity:
Investment Banking Associates are responsible for supervising and often conducting research, analysis, and transaction support in M&A, private capital placement, and other strategic and financial transactions on behalf of our clients predominantly in the technology industry. Investment Banking Associates supervise Analysts, and provide direct support to Vice Presidents, Directors, and Managing Directors of the firm.
FE International allows Associates who have proven themselves capable to take responsibility for transactions up to $20-30 million in value and ensure their timely and successful completion. Associates can also take the lead in establishing and building relationships with new and existing clients, buyers, and investors as well as playing an active role in the wider business development activities of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Work in a support capacity for more senior members of the advisory team;
- Supervising the research, gathering and analyzing of data by the Analysts;
- Identify industry-specific trends and issues, including financial information, incoming profiles of prospects, and competitor performance;
- Work closely with potential clients to obtain, collate, and organise business and financial data;
- Develop and refine client pro forma forecasts, financial models, valuation models, and similar analytical models, as well as other client reports, supervising the Analysts;
- Perform in-depth interrogation of clients about business financials and performance;
- Conduct business valuations using different valuation methodologies, and supervise Financial Analysts in same;
- Provide evaluation and analysis of businesses to influence outcomes and decisions;
- Prepare client presentations, Confidential Information Memoranda, and similar materials used to win and execute the advisory business engagements, and supervise the Analysts in same;
- Communicate and prepare materials to support recommendations to team and stakeholders.
- Managing client due diligence processes;
- Working on lean deal teams to generate results and achieve financial targets; and
- Willingness to engage in light travel for business development (conferences, client meetings, etc.).
Required Skills:
- Proficiency with Capital IQ, PitchBook, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and similar information databases;
- Expert with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint;
- Basic understanding of accounting concepts and the ability to analyse profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and related financial reports, and communicate insight, patterns and trends;
- Experience drafting and producing client presentations and related materials;
- Proficiency, with experience of no fewer than ten transactions, with Discounted Cash Flow Analysis, Leveraged Buyout Analysis, Comparable Publicly Traded Company Analysis, and Precedent M&A Transaction Analysis;
- Understanding of Corporate Finance theory and practice, including the Capital Asset Pricing Model and calculation of the Weighted Average Cost of Capital and a company's Beta;
- Experience compiling and managing an electronic data room for a transaction, using customary vendor platforms such as FIRMEX;
- Familiarity with the organization, content, and assembly of Confidential Information Memoranda, Private Placement Memoranda, and the like;
- Experience managing a Buyer's or Investor's Log, including daily entries and updates, for a transaction;
- Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with clients in a professional manner;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills as well as proven sales and negotiation expertise;
- Able to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and persuasively;
- Exceptionally detail-oriented with an aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative solutions;
- Strong problem-solving capability and analytical skills;
- Resourceful self-starter, able to work under pressure and manage time effectively;
- Ability to lead a variety of transactions and projects simultaneously;
- Basic understanding of law, accounting and business; and
- Commercially astute and targets driven.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a leading university or college; a Master of Business Administration is a plus
- Strong academics in mathematics, computer science, business administration, accounting, economics, finance or equivalent numbers discipline;
- 3 years of prior work experience as an Analyst (or similar roles) in investment banking, financial services, corporate development or management consulting;
- 1-2 years of prior work experience as an Associate (or similar roles) in investment banking, financial services, corporate development or management consulting; and
- Experience in software, e-commerce or technology M&A is not a pre-requisite.

Base Salary: $150K - $175K pa
