Job Description
BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity as a Technical Accountant at our Headquarters located in Glen Allen, VA.
Responsibilities
- Prepares, reviews, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformity to reporting and procedural standards.
- Conducts complex assignments and analyses involving accounting projects and the daily maintenance of a general ledger.
- Identifies inconsistencies and problems and works to resolve them.
- Performs appropriate accounting controls.
- Participates in month-end closing, quarterly, and year-end GAAP and FERC financial reporting activities.
- Interacts routinely with internal and external customers.
- Advises project teams on specific accounting and internal control issues concerning new products, major business and organizational events, system conversions, system upgrades, and system enhancements.
- Provides functional advice or training to less-experienced accountants.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of general accounting experience, or 4+ years of public accounting experience.
- Broad knowledge of U.S. General Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices, and procedures.
- Excellent computer skills, including Excel.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Education
Master's degree (Typically two years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a master's degree.)
Preferred Degree
Accounting, Business, or Finance
Preferred Licenses, Certifications, Qualifications or Standards
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
