Job Description:
Key contributor to Engineered Lines – All Risk Underwriting team. Responsible for account underwriting in primarily the renewable energy segment. Evaluates, quotes, accepts or declines risk within established binding authority. Prepares quotations/proposals on new business and renewals. Reviews, analyzes and quotes to ensure proper pricing, coverage and compliance with HSB Underwriting policy and standards. Adheres to follow up procedures on quoted business. Acts as a training mentor for team members and works with Underwriting, Business Development, Operations, and Engineering. Travel at least 2 times, which may be to home office, with clients and/or brokers.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management or Finance or equivalent work experience
- 3 + years’ experience preferably on an Underwriting team
- P&C, Mechanical or Facilities Engineering experience is a plus
- CPCU, ARM, ARe or other industry designations is a plus
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent underwriting, marketing and analytical skills
- Knowledge of energy all-risk underwriting
- Ability to understand fire and machinery & equipment exposures and coverages
- Working knowledge of CAT modeling including RMS preferred
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Manage and prioritize workload
- Relationship building in the marketplace
- Good communications skills (verbal and written)
- Strong interpersonal skills
