Job Title: Financial Analyst – Crude Oil AccountingLocation: Houston, TXType of Position: Full-time | Direct-hireEnvironment: Onsite (1-day WFH)About the Job:We are looking for a skilled Financial Analyst to support the crude oil accounting operations. In this role, you’ll help manage financial processes like tracking crude oil purchases and sales, ensuring accurate records, and completing financial reports. You’ll also play a key role in month-end and year-end closing activities, making sure everything aligns with accounting standards (GAAP). This position works closely with different teams to resolve any issues and ensure smooth financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare daily cash reports for crude oil purchases and sales, and explain any differences to the Treasury team.
- Make sure crude oil purchases and sales are recorded correctly and on time, and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers or customers.
- Create customer invoices and ensure they’re sent for payment on time, while coordinating with Accounts Payables (AP) and Accounts Receivables (AR) teams.
- Assist with closing out monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports, including evaluating crude oil pricing, volume, and costs.
- Work with teams like traders and schedulers to improve financial processes and make sure everything runs smoothly.
- Identify any unusual pricing or trading transactions and communicate them with the accounting team to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting analysts.
Must-Have:- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a financial or accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and GAAP.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, and experience with accounting software like SAP or Right Angle is a plus.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data accurately.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with other teams.
- Experience with oil and gas accounting is a big advantage.
Nice-to-Have:- CPA or certifications like CFA or CMA.
- Experience in managing and mentoring junior staff.
- Familiarity with data tools like Tableau or Power BI and experience with ERP system implementations.
