To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to manage and perform each mission-essential duty satisfactorily. The Wireless Services Support Analyst is to plan, coordinate, initiate, and maintain radio or telecommunication services based upon operational needs and customer requests. The Wireless Services Support Analyst works closely with wireless service providers to assure that the appropriate services are in place. Assist the Radio and Telecom Manager in maintaining PO and PO Requests, tracking orders, and ensuring that invoices are paid in a timely manner.
In pursuit of the position’s mission, to support the mission and vision of the Information Technology Department efficiently, effectively, and economically in consistently maintaining and protecting the Macon-Bibb County Government’s information and communication technology infrastructure.
The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Plans and coordinates equipment and service needs for the day-to-day requirements associated with the cellular network and device management system.
- Assists with the coordination of any additions, changes, and upgrades to assure minimum downtime and optimum performance of cellular communications systems which rely upon those services.
- Analyze billing statements from multiple vendors, auditing pricing, resolving invoice disputes and approving bills for payment, monthly accruals, and forecasting. May also audit service plans on a periodic basis to determine most cost-effective service.
- Tests and inspects equipment and/or parts for serviceability, proper operations, and compliance with departmental standards and reports problem situations.
- Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, schedules, logs, work orders, parts request forms, repair forms, inventory reports, supplemental forms, standardization forms, maintenance records, or other documents.
- Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, work orders, schedules, invoices, parts/materials lists, radio code lists, flow charts, diagrams, blueprints, services/product bulletins, catalogs, policies, standards, service manuals, technical documentation, maps, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
- Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations; maintains an awareness of new technologies, products, trends, and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
- Analyzes and provides Call Detail Records (CDR) call logs depending on department requirements.
- And other duties that may be assigned by the Radio and Telecom Manager.
SUPERVISORY SPAN OF CONTROL: None.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: The Wireless Services Support Analyst is required to travel minimally but may be required to do so on occasion. (2% = ~1 week per year)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of four (4) years previous experience and/or training involving the administration and maintenance of a computerized asset management system.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that may be acceptable to the appointing authority.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, organizational policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting, testing, and monitoring concepts.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of research, statistical analysis and report preparation.
