The director of accounting is responsible for the following:
- Reconciling the University’s five depository accounts.
- Completing journal entries to record revenue and expense from all bank accounts.
- Submitting journal entries to record interdepartmental transfers.
- Approving purchase requisitions, encumbrances, and EPAFs.
- Assisting faculty and staff with budget and account inquiries.
- Processing accounts payable, student refunds, payroll and direct deposits.
- Completing monthly rent, utility and childcare drafts.
- Managing Banner Finance security access to funds, orgs and accounts.
- Initiating internal bank transfers and wire transfers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting, business administration, and/or finance, or related field. Five to seven years of accounting experience.
- Three to five years of supervisory management experience.
- Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including restricted fund and grant accounting, compliance and budget.
- Experience working and managing financial and accounting software, including Ellucian Banner, Excel, Argos, etc.
- Ability to forge and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and students.
- Excellent verbal, written networking and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet critical deadlines, including some evenings and weekends.
Salary: Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.
