Summary
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Michigan Tech BME is searching for outstanding candidates who can add to the existing research and teaching strengths in multiple research areas.

Responsibilities
Undergraduate and graduate teaching. Teach core undergraduate courses in biomedical engineering such as biomechanics, biomaterials, computational physiology, or instrumentation, as well as graduate courses related to their own research expertise.
Engage in research that complements and strengthens existing focus areas in the Department and add to existing research and teaching strengths in multiple areas.
Securing external funding.
Contribute to department and university service activities.
Integrate safety practices into daily activities and commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
Earned doctorate in an engineering discipline with a focus in human health or a closely related field in human health.
Required Experience
Post-doctoral or industry experience.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
We desire applicants who can research and teach courses in biotech/biomanufacturing, synthetic biology, prosthetics/orthopedics, medical device/catheter design, robotics, tissue engineering, and computing/programming/mobile computing.
Applicants who demonstrate that they can form productive external collaborations with the medical device industry as well as with other units of the Michigan Tech College of Engineering and who demonstrate the ability to establish a rigorous, externally funded research program are desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
Demonstrated ability to establish a rigorous, externally funded research program with a human health focus. The applicant’s research should also complement and strengthen existing focus areas in the Department, which are cardiovascular engineering, biomaterials, tissue engineering, biomechanics, biomedical sensors and instrumentation, and biomedical imaging. We also encourage applicants with a research focus in biotech/biomanufacturing, synthetic biology, prosthetics/orthopedics, medical device/catheter design, robotics, and computing/programming/mobile computing.
A demonstrated track record of research productivity is required. This includes publication numbers and impact, as well as a history of having secured external funding.

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands
The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
