- Develop and maintain an effective system-wide infection prevention and control program for the facility.
- Gather and analyze infection data, facts, and trends and communicate this information to other healthcare staff.
- Provide training and education to medical and non-medical staff on prevention techniques and practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the prevalence of healthcare-associated infections.
- Support teamwork essential for compliance with regulatory standards.
- Recognize, isolate, and prevent healthcare-associated infections that impact client safety and outcomes.
- Conduct ongoing review of facility infection policies, procedures, and guidelines to identify infection control discrepancies and implement revisions as necessary.
- Direct and assist in preparing reports and statistical data for the infection control committee, the facilities administration, and other committees, as needed.
- Perform annual assessments and develop action plans from the prior year's activities.
- Make recommendations regarding environmental rounds and assure compliance with standards.
- Notify the Public Health Agency and the Wyoming Department of Health of reportable diseases as required by state statute.
- Monitor trends in unusual or resistant organisms for evidence of spread to other clients and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
PREFERENCES:Preference may be given to applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and three (3) or more years of experience in infection control and prevention. Infection Control Certification (CIC) is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE:- Skills at an excellent level in communication, both written and interpersonal.

- Knowledge of the principles of decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization, the methods to achieve these processes, and methods of monitoring efficacy.
- Ability to clearly communicate directions and negotiate the solution of problems.
- Knowledge of the epidemiology of infectious diseases and methods to effectively control their spread.
- Ability to accept responsibility for medium to large-scale projects involving multiple resources and spanning many months from start to finish.
- Ability to react efficiently to frequent changes in duties and volume of work.
- Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing)
Experience: 1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
OREducation & Experience Substitution: 4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:- Must be able to safely move (twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position, and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.
- Ability to monitor sounds, noises, location of clients, etc. in order to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
- Work evenings, nights, and/or weekends when the situation requires it.
NOTES:- FLSA: Non-exempt
- All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018, are required to be paid hourly.
- A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
- The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration, and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.

**Hiring Bonus Eligibility and Conditions**- New state employees and temporary employees accepting a permanent position.
- Current state employees accepting a promotional opportunity-recruitment must have been open to the public.
- One year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay.
- Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date.
- Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
