This position will be located at our Villa La Jolla OB/Gyn clinic
DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC).
Duties also include but are not limited to: scheduling of patient appointments and associated patient system screens, accurate billing, environmental care functions, equipment/supply management and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Will provide non-licensed medical support to medical care providers in an outpatient setting.
Incumbents room patients; set up equipment and instruments, maintaining sterile technique as required; independently perform and/or assist providers with performing exams and procedures, including administering injections; collect, prepare and analyze specimens, including performing venipuncture; with proper provider authorization, provide instructions, training, test results and advice to patients; call in prescriptions; sterilize instruments; clean and calibrate equipment; clean and stock exam rooms; and provide proper documentation in patient chart. May also provide front office services on a routine or back-up basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Previous experience in a medical setting.
- Knowledge of computer operations with IDX skills, Outlook, Word processing, Microsoft Word, and Excel skills.
- Medical terminology certificate and/or training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience as a Medical Assistant in Women's Health.
- Proficient in Ob/Gyn terminology.
- Experienced with Electronic Medical Record Systems (i.e. EPIC).
- Ability to multitask between front desk and back-office duties.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must be available for weekend, on-call rotation.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $50,321 - $62,640 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $24.10 - $30.00
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
