The hiring salary for the position is $50,380.62.
Charles County Government is seeking a Registration Specialist to perform program and administrative support work for the Department of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Registration Office. The Registration Specialist will also provide customer service, process program registrations, perform database maintenance, and process financial transactions.
- Facilitates effective program registration and enrollment for department programs and activities.
- Provides support with program registration, point of sale, facility booking, ticket sales, and membership/punch card sales.
- Assists customers on the phone, in person, and via e-mail with all aspects of program registration and providing referrals to appropriate areas as necessary.
- Assists with maintaining the registration database including data entry, household maintenance, point of sale, period end processing, maintaining program inventories, and web-based transactions.
- Provides positive public relations, program promotion, and policy education to participants.
- Prepares, researches, and maintains program records, statistics, files and reports.
- Performs cash handling functions and financial transactions to include making deposits, daily cash drawer set-ups, balances, takes money in, keeps daily balances, assists with daily close out procedures, and researches financial reports for insufficient fund inquiries and processes claims for re-payments.
- Responds to customer inquiries and requests in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Communicates with other divisions /departments when making decisions that affect their department.
- Assists in County wide department special events.
- Assists with training personnel on registration procedures, as necessary.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Associates degree in Business, Accounting, or related field. Two (2) years of data entry or customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver's license.

Subject to work beyond the normal scheduled hours of work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of program and administrative support procedures.
- Knowledge of accounting methods, record keeping and cash handling procedures.
- Knowledge of PC operations.
- Ability to follow through on matters, and uses independent judgment and training to take appropriate actions in dealing with standard recurring situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards; speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.
