We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Planning Lead to join our future-focused and rewarding organisation. This role reports to the Director – Digital Transformation, Performance and Evaluation and is a key member of the Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of health services for patients—particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes.
- Improve coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
About the role:
The role will drive a collaborative approach to health system planning, by developing a shared understanding of local health priorities and community needs, and engaging with colleagues, stakeholders, and service partners to harness this health intelligence to develop appropriate system responses and initiatives.
Key Purpose of the Role:
- Partner with our local Hospital and Health Services, engage with local stakeholders and subject-matter experts, and leverage the expertise of colleagues within the PHN, to develop local health intelligence.
- Lead the identification of community strengths and needs across the whole of health service system, and determine priorities and opportunities for action by the PHN and our service system partners.
- Implement best practice principles, as well as appropriate assessment and prioritisation frameworks, to ensure a rigorous and trusted approach to health planning in line with government requirements and stakeholder expectations.
- Describe and present health planning information and health intelligence with appropriate interpretation and sensitivities, to assist a variety of audiences to harness this information for decision making and to achieve our overall objectives.
- Provide expert advice as needed on population health, including briefings on relevant publication releases, research reports, and other related health intelligence.
- Engage in co-design activities with colleagues to help inform and support alignment of initiatives to health priorities and opportunities.
Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as epidemiology, public health, population health, health economics, health science or planning.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing population health and health planning programs of work.
- Demonstrated experience in translating and presenting health intelligence to various audiences, to support decision making.
- Demonstrated experience developing strong working relationships with colleagues and external partner organisations.
- Knowledge of appropriate approaches and methodologies to gather, synthesise, prioritise, and report on intelligence, using a range of information sources such as community surveys, stakeholder engagement and quantitative data.
- Knowledge of the current whole of health care system, with a particular focus on primary health care.
- Experience working with applications such as NVIVO, SPSS, Endnote, and PowerBI.
