The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of Nuclear Medicine procedures demonstrating independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Provides physicians with high quality diagnostic images for interpretation and provides customers with the highest standard of care.
Patients and their families are served by performing procedures in a prompt, courteous manner resulting in high quality images. Physicians are provided requested exams in a reasonable time of diagnostic quality for final interpretation. Provides excellent communication skills with members of the healthcare team and physicians.
• EDUCATION
o Graduation from a 2 year AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology or a school of Radiologic Technology.
• EXPERIENCE
o Clinical rotation through a hospital setting during training or one-year experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
• LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
o Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology or Nuclear Medicine, and/or certified by the National Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
• OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
o CPR training. Ability to make independent decisions. Demonstrate leadership ability. Good interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated in direct patient care. Encourages proper training and supervision of student technologist rotating through the Nuclear Medicine department.
• WORK ENVIRONMENT
o Due to indirect or direct contact, you may be at risk for exposure to tuberculosis, bloodborne pathogens (which may include HIV and Hepatitis B) and/or other potentially infectious diseases. Exposure to radioactive materials. Personal Protective Equipment is required for patient exposure. Responsible for call duty after regular hours on a rotating basis.
• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
o Walking and standing throughout shift. Pushes and pulls stretchers and wheelchairs occupied with patients throughout the shift. Lift patients daily with assistance. After regular hours callbacks required on emergency basis during call duty.
