Overview
Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Operating Room (OR) team at our Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN.
We are seeking a hardworking and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Operating Room (OR) team at our Woodwinds Health Campus which includes surgical technologists, nursing assistants, schedulers, instrument technicians, and MDs.
Schedule: This RN OR position will be working 48 hours every 2 weeks on the day/evening shifts. The schedule includes: 8 hour shifts M-F, off premise call on weekends (3-4 per year), holidays (1 per year), and nights (once every 2-3 weeks). Staff need to be within 30 minutes of the hospital to meet call requirements.

- Woodwinds Health Campus opened its 86-bed hospital in August 2000. Located on 30 acres of pristine wetlands in Woodbury, MN, it’s the only hospital in the southeast metro area.
- Woodwinds is an acute care setting that can lead a variety of surgical specialties.
- We have 6 Operating Rooms with surgical volumes on an average day can range from 15-25 cases.
- Woodwinds Operating Room specifically focus on General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, Podiatry, OB/GYN, Plastics, ENT, and Ophthalmology.
- This position will serve an adult patient population (16 years or older).
Responsibilities Job Description
As an Operating Room RN, you will be responsible for:
- Implementing protective measures prior to operative or invasive procedure, including measures to prevent skin or tissue injury due to thermal, mechanical, electrical and chemical sources.
- Confirming identity before the operative or invasive procedure and verifying operative procedure, surgical site and laterality.
- Applying safety devices, performing required counts, managing specimen handling and disposition.
- Demonstrating knowledge about the psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families regarding the operative or other invasive procedure.
- Applying principles of aseptic technique while establishing and maintaining sterile fields.
- Performing skin preparations, monitoring for wound contamination, and classifying the surgical wound.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Must meet one of these requirements:
- Operating Room RN experience
- RN with current hospital experience and successful completion of Peri-op 101 course
- New Grad RN with 3 years of Clinical OR experience
- Required:
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Valid RN Licensure from MN Board of Nursing
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN RN preferred with 2 years of OR RN experience
