Electrician 1st Class
THIS POSITION WILL BE REPRESENTED AS PART OF A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT UNIT.
Position Overview
Must know all types of electrical equipment, standard and special, as used in the plant and/or have extensive background in one special skill (Motor winding, armature, etc.). Responsible for performing installation, repair, tests, and troubleshooting under general supervision on electrical equipment such as transformers, motors, switchgear, relay systems, control systems, Plant Communication and Emergency Systems, etc. Required to perform work which requires complete knowledge of AC transformers, controls, and motors. Must be capable of working with detailed or sparse instructions with little or direct supervision. Responsible for performing work to specifications and in accordance with plant procedures. Must ensure that no personnel, equipment, or the power system are endangered or disturbed. Performs other duties incidental to the work as may be assigned by supervision.
- Must be able to wear Company provided respiratory and other personal protective equipment when required.
- Must be able to do balancing, bending, crawling, crouching, climbing, pushing, pulling, raising both arms above shoulder, use of both hands, kneeling, reaching, sitting/standing/walking, working at high speed and have the ability to lift up to 50#.
- Must be able to work in an environment that may be wet, noisy, humid, dry, dusty, hot or have sudden temperature changes and with conditions that may include, but not limited to, exposure to burns, acids, solvents, radioactive material, confined space, high places, mechanical hazards, moving objects, inside/outside work, vibrations, and oil/greases.
- Must possess a DOE "L" Clearance or the ability to obtain an "L" clearance.
- Required Contingencies:
- Pre-Employment Physical (office or field work).
- Drug Screen.
- The ability to obtain/maintain "L" or "Q" Clearance one year from hire date.
- Background Check.
- Any site required training.

Minimum Requirements
Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as Electrician in heavy industry or 5 years’ rounded experience in the following: Transformers, Controls, Motor and Armature, winding, line & cable.
