Overview
The SBLU Credit Underwriter I provides fundamental commercial credit and financial analysis support to Renasant Bank's Small Business Lending Unit (SBLU) credit risk management responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Analyze noncomplex SBLU credits with loan amounts typically less than $100M.
- Develop credit information for use by the SBLU in making lending decisions on new, renewal, and prospective loans by:
- Reviewing and analyzing all pertinent credit and financial information including business and personal financial statements, business and personal tax returns and business and personal credit reports to determine credit worthiness of borrowers and guarantors.
- Preparing all financial spreads and other financial modeling.
- Determining the need for a more thorough investigation or additional information and completes that investigation.
- Preparing written summary, giving oral feedback, presenting facts and offering opinions concerning credit worthiness to the SBLU.
- Managing pipeline workflow communicating accordingly with manager as needed.
- Ensuring high-quality production and turnaround standards are achieved.
- Complete nCino responsibilities including loading credit information into doc man, adding additional information, following department nCino steps and understanding total exposure.
- Monitor and help maintain the Bank's Credit Scoring systems by calculating debt service ratios and monitoring application accuracy.
- Work with loan officers over the telephone to assist them in qualifying loans.
- Calculate the pricing on SBLU requests.
- Requires direct supervision, oversight, and guidance in completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Apply Renasant Bank's Loan Policies and Department Procedures consistently in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics is preferred (or additional years of directly related experience above the minimum will be considered).
- Minimum of 1 year of job-related experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and use new systems, processes, policies, and procedures effectively and efficiently.
- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently to consistently complete the underwriting of 2 or more credits per day.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to use a financial calculator to calculate loan payments and other financial calculations.
- Ability to learn varied job assignments readily.
- Be a positive, proactive, and flexible employee providing RNSTXcellence service to both internal and external relationships.
