What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide strategic expertise and guidance on complex underwriting issues for assigned large accounts
- Assess coverage, limits, and pricing on complex accounts, providing authorizations as necessary
- Analyze premium and loss data to ensure long-term profitable growth
- Lead the development of strategic product and underwriting strategies aligned with business goals
- Participate in the identification and presentation of underwriting training programs
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or insurance-related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum of ten years of experience in commercial property underwriting, with at least three years in staff underwriting
- Proven knowledge of countrywide underwriting techniques, terminology, and policies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report if driving is required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Insurance certifications such as CPCU, AU, or CIC
- Knowledge of facultative reinsurance placement practices
- Familiarity with sophisticated pricing tools across the property line of business
- Understanding of retrospective rating, loss sensitive rating, and large deductibles for casualty
- Experience advising and consulting with diverse stakeholders, including senior executives
