What You’ll Do: As a Personal Lines Underwriter, you will exercise underwriting judgement to determine rate and risk selection for all personal lines of business. This includes reviewing changes, making modifications, rejections, cancellations, and non-renewal decisions in accordance with FBL policy. You will be responsible for assisting and educating the agency force through daily interaction, as well as assisting the claims department with ag claims settlement questions. You will define, implement, and monitor a client service strategy consistent with our companies’ mission and vision. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the retention of profitable business through sound underwriting decisions and exceptional customer service.
What It Takes to Join Our Team:
- College degree preferred.
- Insurance background/knowledge and underwriting/claims/insurance experience is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills are required, including solid verbal communication and business professional writing skills. Must maintain a positive, customer focused attitude at all times.
- Must have excellent problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills are required to quickly learn our multiple systems.
- Must keep up to date regarding local, state, and federal rules and regulations to ensure government compliance and meet company guidelines.
- Must be able to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and shift priorities to achieve corporate and business unit goals.
- Progress towards industry education is expected (AINS, AFIS, CPCU, etc.).
- Work from our office in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
- Salary is $55,000 - $63,000 based on experience.
