The Role
Accounting
- Completing, within 5 business days, the End of Month process and report Financials on the 6th business day;
- Reviewing and overseeing Payroll, minimizing errors, and mastering the payroll system;
- Overseeing all company and subsidiary accounting functions;
- Mastering all aspects of the Accounting systems deployed in the operating Divisions, and utilizing the system to its full capabilities;
- Maintaining accounting processes, systems and controls, including documentation of policies, procedures and controls;
- Overseeing the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; conducting analysis comparing those statements to forecasted results;
- Overseeing and managing Company accounts with vendors - specifically credit cards;
- Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP,) statutory reporting requirements and Corporate control policies;
- Maintaining the Company's system of accounts; keeping books and records on all Company transactions and assets in compliance with applicable accounting principles and Company policy;
- Working with Management to prepare, manage and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual overhead budget for Corporate, Divisions, and Subdivisions;
- Assisting with financial analysis for Senior Management, Board of Directors, and investors;
- Leading the company through its annual audit;
- Interfacing with external accountants, auditors, and key contracting parties;
- Completing regulatory and/or governmental filings. Responsibility for reviewing tax activity and annual tax filing and other applicable taxes;
- Advising Leadership team on customer contract terms, revenue recognition policies, expense management, and other financial matters relevant from an accounting and tax perspective;
- Implementing and enforcing accounting controls and processes;
- Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of recorded transactions;
- Regularly performing internal audit procedures to ensure procedural compliance, identify and correct deficiencies.
Finance
- Interfacing and working with the lenders of the Company to ensure they have required financial documentation and answer all questions;
- Working with lenders and the Divisions to ensure that construction starts are ordered and financed in a timely and orderly fashion;
- Ensuring lenders are supplied with required information in order for construction projects to secure financing;
- Reviewing and approving settlement statements from title companies.
Treasury
- Responsibility for all banking activities; must be executed in accordance with policies and procedures issued by Corporate;
- Ensuring that construction projects are funded timely and adequately;
- Overseeing Accounts Receivable;
- Overseeing Accounts Payable and providing final approval for all payments (checks, ACH, wires, etc.);
- Ensuring proper bank reconciliation;
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Managing, mentoring, and training (and cross-training, where possible) the direct reports;
- Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws;
- Interviewing and hiring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education
- Required: Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Accounting
Experience
- Required: Six plus years' relevant experience
