DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will deliver technical and engineering support within the Bureau of Mine Safety, facilitating efficient and effective operations to safeguard both underground miners and the public. Your responsibilities will include conducting advanced analytical, developmental, and consultative work to address mining engineering challenges.
You will lead and coordinate mining engineering efforts on complex agency projects, ensuring the safety of underground miners and the public through your engineering and technical expertise. Additionally, you will conduct thorough technical reviews of mine plans, encompassing aspects such as roof control, ventilation, and mining operating systems.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in New Stanton.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years as a Mining Engineer or Mining Engineering Supervisor; or
- Five years of professional mining engineering experience.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists or a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the applicable licensing body of another state.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
Post Employment Requirement:
- Successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer license issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
