How You Will Contribute:
Reporting to Director, Service Quotations, as the Consultant, Service Quotation Management, you will be responsible for-
- Creating custom service proposals and Scopes of Work, based on Interpretation of HW and SW Bill of Materials, network diagram and/or customer requirements in both greenfield and brownfield (expansions and reconfiguration and migration).
- Interact with account teams and sales engineers to understand and refine customer requirements.
- Coordinate with service delivery teams to determine work estimates for desired service(s)
- Provide complete quote packages to account and commercial teams on time and with high quality, adhering to Ciena's commercial guidelines.
- Identify additional service opportunities and provide available service options.
- Lead continuous improvement programs related to services quoting tools and processes and communicate any additional enhancements that may be necessary. This includes service standardization, increased automation, and sales interaction improvements.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert in each area for North American team and ensure sharing with the Global team.
- Autonomously maintain and grow your own technical expertise, product knowledge and sales skills through ongoing training.

The Must Haves:
- Strong technical knowledge of core optical networking including DWDM, ROADM, and high-speed photonic technologies (including subsea)
- Knowledge in Ethernet and IP (L2 and L3) technologies
- Demonstrated ability to build effective customer relationships
- Ability to apply expertise to develop and implement innovative business solutions
- Demonstrates ability to manage complex projects and able to influence and drive outcomes from a cross-functional team and levels in a global organization (PLM, SPLM, Service Delivery, Commercial Management, Partner Management, etc..
- Making critical contributions to managing and solving complex, and/or large technical and business challenges
- Demonstrates effective time management skills while prioritizing business critical tasks.
- May provide formal technical/functional direction to other professionals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical and detail-oriented
- Multitasking: able to manage many aspects of the account(s) simultaneously.
- Good customer interface skills and ability to work with many levels of customer operations including senior management.
- Hands on experience commissioning and operating Ciena products (Submarine and/or L2 is a plus).
- Self-starter, capable of "owning" areas of responsibility and involving senior management for necessary issues.
