Labor & Delivery RN / Nights
This vital role as a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) at our hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, offers you the opportunity to support and nurture families at a critical time in their lives. You will work with a dedicated team in our Family Birthplace unit, assisting in about 60 deliveries per month and using the latest evidence-based practices. The role promises a dynamic work environment with a focus on high-quality neonatal care and patient satisfaction, ensuring both mother and baby receive the best possible care during the night shifts.
Compensation: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year, plus benefits and shift differentials
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patients, to include physical and psychosocial aspects of care such as pain management, understanding of risk factors, and family dynamics.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor for effectiveness and side effects.
- Participate in the development and implementation of patient plans of care, which may include patient teaching and discharge planning.
- Communicate with healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
- Maintain required competencies on equipment and procedures, keeping up to date through in-services and other training.
- Ensure that the work environment is safe for both patients and staff by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Current Colorado RN license or eligibility to obtain prior to starting.
- Current certifications: American Heart Association BLS and ACLS.
- NRP Certification required at the time of hire or shortly after.
- Ability to perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient.
- Professionalism in interactions with patients, families, and staff, maintaining a calm environment even during stressful or urgent situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN degree or higher preferred.
- STABLE certification preferred or required within 6 months of employment.
- Previous experience in labor & delivery, OB/GYN, or neonatal nursing units highly preferred.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with patient and family education to effectively provide understanding and enhance patient care.
