As an Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for the assessment, direction, and supervision of participants in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program.

Primary Duties:
- Performs basic, routine, and specialized tasks for patients' success in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs. Evaluates medical history and current physical status of participants and assesses their baseline functional capacity and personal health factors. Obtains necessary materials from MD (Medical Doctor) for enrollment. Performs new patient orientations, assists with navigation of resources, and develops plan of care for participants. Implements plan of care utilizing principles of exercise physiology. Instructs participants in proper techniques and use of equipment. Understands contraindications to postpone and terminate exercise. Monitors exercise sessions, assessing participants for inappropriate responses to exercise. Independently adjusts participant's treatment plan to properly progress participants and safely obtain established program and participant's goals. Identifies potential problems and notifies MD before critical problems appear. Responds to emergencies which might arise prior to, during, and after exercise. Documents progress reports and discharge summaries appropriately.
- Provides teaching and instruction to patients, family members, and staff. Independently identifies patient education needs and provides education/resources to participants regarding disease process, prevention, discharge planning, and health maintenance. Instructs participants in proper techniques and use of equipment. Arranges for classes and participant counseling with multiple disciplines. Develops and provides in-services to hospital staff and community related to cardiac and pulmonary disease and prevention. Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare team to establish plan of care and continuum of care. Develops new ideas and suggestions for program improvements. Provides input into equipment, budget needs, and continuous quality improvement for the program.
- Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Identifies learning needs in self and initiates actions to address these education needs. Attends continuing education programs to maintain certification. Attends hospital-sponsored training programs as required by the department.
- Works effectively within and between departments. Participates in inter-departmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge as appropriate. Provides department/unit with information and knowledge acquired during participation with interdepartmental teams and committees. Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers both inside and outside the unit.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 3-4 years clinical exercise physiology experience preferred.
- ACSM Exercise specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $22.04 - $38.41.
