Our Team
We deliver endocrinology and diabetes care in an outpatient setting located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (2014 Washington Street, in Newton, MA). Our endocrinologists help people with diabetes and hormonal disorders successfully manage their conditions. Patients receive state-of-the-art diabetes treatment through our team's advanced and effective techniques. Conditions treated:
- Diabetes management
- Osteoporosis
- Thyroid disorders and tumors
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Full-Time, 40-hour LPN to support our practices onsite Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are looking for a highly skilled, dedicated, and compassionate LPN to join our dynamic outpatient Endocrinology team with a specialized focus on diabetes care as well as some general endocrinology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diabetes management, including experience with diabetes technologies (such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems).
Our nurses work in a collaborative and patient-centric environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services and are responsible for:
- Triage of incoming phone calls and patient gateway messages, gathering important clinical information. Collaborating and communicating with providers to develop patient plans and communicating with patients by phone, in person, and EMR.
- Connecting patient devices to the clinic remotely and in person and connecting patient data to the EMR.
- Some prescription refills: Evaluating appropriateness of prescription refills and confirming current regimen. Evaluating need for prior authorization appropriateness.
- Advocating for patient needs always.
- Staying informed on current standards of care in endocrinology and applying evidence-based practices in patient care.
- Educating patients on diabetes self-management, lifestyle modifications, and the importance of adhering to prescribed treatment plans.
- Teaching patients how to use glucose meters, administer injectable medications, and use continuous glucose monitors.
- Providing clear and concise information on endocrine conditions, and ensuring patients have a thorough understanding of their health and treatment options.
Qualifications
When hiring, we look for candidates who possess not only the relevant skills and competencies but also positive attitudes, emotional intelligence, and genuine passion for this work.
- Graduate of an approved LPN / Licensed Practical Nurse program (per state requirements)
- Current state licensed as an LPN / Licensed Practical Nurse (as required by state regulation)
- Experience in diabetes management in the outpatient setting preferred
- Current CPR certification
