This position is for an experienced, fully-trained embryologist who has a thorough knowledge of assisted reproduction and can perform all standard embryology techniques including oocyte identification/grading, semen preparations, pronuclear evaluation, embryo evaluation, embryo transfer, embryo freezing and advanced micromanipulation such as ICSI, blastocyst trophectoderm biopsies and processing for preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). This is a flexible position with rotating weekend call. The hours are contingent on the case schedule, however, the ability and flexibility to work 21 consecutive days is required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform ART techniques as required including: human oocyte micromanipulation, assisted hatching, embryo transfer, retrieval of human oocytes, denuding human oocytes, assessing fertilization status of human embryos, vitrification of embryos and oocytes, thawing of embryos and oocytes, insemination of oocytes, and sperm preparation, strong tissue banking skills and knowledge.
- Conduct advanced micromanipulation (ICSI, embryo biopsy)
- Oversight and management of patients for the laboratory
- Document and maintain detailed records for all laboratory procedures
- Daily and weekly quality control monitoring. Requires close monitoring of quality related issues which a specialist would be expected to evaluate and propose actions when issues arise.
- Maintenance of equipment. Thorough understanding of the equipment and the ability to problem solve during malfunctions is required.
- Media preparation for all laboratory procedures.
- Order and stock all laboratory supplies.
- Train and supervise staff as requested.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (semen analysis and IUI preps) for Andrology Service.
- Competent posting procedure charges in the EMR. Maintenance of program statistics.
- Documentation as mandated, CDC, FDA, California DHS, SART CAP
- Other duties as required by the Lab Director and/or IVF Director.
Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Required
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be able to follow protocols and function well under pressure.
- Must be proficient at identifying and organizing necessary tasks.
- Must be able to function as a member of the laboratory and fertility center team.
Education, Certifications, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field
- Master’s degree in Embryology or related biological science
- Embryology and andrology certified (ABB)
- Seven years plus experience in a lab performing greater than 250 cycles per year

Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $150,000 – $190,000. This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans. More information on compensation is discussed with the departments during the recruitment process.
