Position Overview
The Lab Technician reports to the QC Lab Supervisor and has primary responsibility for performing quality checks on raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods; maintaining sample retains; and keeping production informed of changes to work instructions.
Job Responsibilities
- Execute and adhere to all EHS requirements, maintain a safe work environment, and follow internal safety rules and procedures including wearing proper PPE as appropriate.
- Participate in the general housekeeping of the plant and work area.
- Enter and back-up all QA data test results in databases and spreadsheets.
- Maintain critical equipment and laboratory inventory supplies to support continuous uninterrupted QA lab support.
- Manage obsolete (expired, damaged & returned goods), off-spec, and rejected material storage area for finished products to minimize waste generation as directed by supervisor. Ensure that all customer complaints are checked within 48 hours and reported to management as directed by supervisor.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Collect time-sensitive samples and maintain retain inventory of bulk raw materials and finished products.
- Provide timely and accurate QA information to production and distribution, including proper documentation and labeling of skids that are ready to ship.
- Complete, maintain, and process all other pertinent paperwork and records.
- Submit daily routine batch release report and immediately notify all affected personnel of any rejected batch/lot number prior to shipping to customer.
- Assist and become proactive in monthly meeting functions for Quality, Safety, Housekeeping, and waste minimization.
- Communicate all critical issues and problems concerning QA, test equipment problems, schedule changes, and assignments to the facility manager.
- Be a team player; volunteer to help where needed to get the job done and enhance skills. Work with some direction and supervision of QC supervisor and the Quality manager.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Material Safety Data Sheets, batch sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to complete documentation correctly.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Minimum Requirements
- A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency required.
- Experience in working in a lab or manufacturing environment.
Physical Environment
- Regularly required to stand.
- Frequently required to walk, climb stairs, use hands to remove or lift boxes, stretch and reach with arms extended, and stoop.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds alone, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location. The salary for this role is $20/hr.
