Job Title: Surgical Technologist - Labor and Delivery
Location: Round Rock, TX
Shift: 12-Hour Days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
Salary Range: $24.55 - $35.54 per hour
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our Labor & Delivery (L&D) team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a crucial role in preparing for and assisting during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest standards of sterile technique, and supporting the surgical team throughout the procedure. This is a day shift position, working 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room and ensure all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile and ready for use.
- Scrub into surgeries and assist the surgical team with preparing instruments before the procedure begins.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, providing instruments and sterile supplies as needed during the procedure.
- Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and miscellaneous items per established policies.
- Assist with the draping and positioning of the patient, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
- Handle surgical specimens following protocols and deliver them to the circulating nurse.
- Assist with the application of surgical dressings post-operation and assist in the proper disposal of surgical waste and soiled instruments.
- Maintain and clean instruments, equipment, and the operating room according to infection control policies and sterilization standards.
- Follow regulatory requirements, including those outlined by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of sterile supplies and equipment, and collaborate with team members to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and documented.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Experience: Less than 1 year of experience in a surgical technologist role.
- Certification/License:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from NBSTSA or NCCT, or completion of a formal training program in surgical technology from a U.S. Military branch or Public Health Service before 9/1/2009.
