Job Summary:
The Southwest Healthcare is seeking a Full-Time Physician Liaison who will be responsible for assisting providers in accurately completing medical records, report provider delinquencies, and maintains suspension records. This is an onsite position located at Corona Regional Medical Center. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assures that all clinical records are completed accurately and timely according to regulatory guidelines.
- Assists providers in the completion of their records and to answer questions regarding completion requirements.
- Follows daily practitioner schedules to contact providers who have delinquent records for completion.
- Conducts quality analysis on all charts for completeness based on the Joint Commission, Title 22, and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations. During concurrent tracking, contacts appropriate personnel regarding questions, concerns, issues, documentation, etc. related to timely and accurate completion of the records.
- Runs delinquency reports in the eMR system to determine which providers will be eligible for suspension the following week. Send out "Reminder" letters, utilizing the current methods with validation of receipt.
- Responds timely, within 24 hours of knowledge, to all provider inquiries/questions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsExperience/Training:
- High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree from an accredited College or University in Medical Records Science preferred.
- Completion of an introductory course of Medical Terminology required.
- Two (2) to Three (3) years of experience in Medical Records required, acute care experience preferred.
- Prior knowledge of State and Federal release of information laws preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Must have valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission and Title 22 standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrates compliance with hospital policies and procedures at all times.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public.
- Must have knowledge of PC and applications.
- Demonstrates the ability to use and access reference material and make decisions upholding Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, The Joint Commission standards, Federal and State (Title 22) statute, as it relates to medical records completion.
- Demonstrates the ability to adhere to all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Federal and State statute, as it related to proper and improper releases.
- Demonstrates a high level of awareness in protecting patient P.H.I., including double check using two patient identifiers for verification of documentation that may be given to outside agencies or patients.
- Demonstrates ability to set priorities and appropriately prioritize workload to complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Demonstrates effective communication with all customers (i.e. medical staff, hospital staff, patients, etc.) regardless of communication method. Utilizes principles of AIDET for framework of conversations.
- Must possess a fundamental knowledge of computer skills, phone skills, fax, and copying.
- Must possess knowledge of medical terminology.
- Demonstrates ability to perform and remain focused when working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrates ability to handle emergency or crisis situations.
- Demonstrates the ability to utilize the language line to communicate with patients as appropriate.
