Position Overview:
The Team Lead Hematology Technologist is responsible for daily operations in the Hematology department. They also report and assist the Laboratory Medical Director and Director of Laboratory Services when required. Duties will be divided into 80% technical and 20% administrative.
Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates effective communication with all health team members and Hospital customers.
- Complies with established Hospital policy.
- Promotes a safe environment for patients, visitors, and peers.
- Maintains competencies and participates in ongoing development activities.
- Responsible for the proper performance of clinical laboratory procedures, consistent with professional standards and departmental protocols.
- Ensures operational excellence within the Hematology department under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director and Director of Laboratory Services.
- Provides quality support and service in accordance with applicable policies and professional standards.
- Assists in achieving effective fiscal management of the Hematology department's operations.
- Demonstrates professional leadership and involvement within the Hospital and the community.
- Performs Hematology Supervisory duties in the Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis areas.
- Seeks appropriate counsel from Human Resources and/or Director of Laboratory Services for effective human resource management.

- Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
- Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
- Complies with all health and safety regulations.

- Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required: BS in Medical Technology or related science field. Must have MT (ASCP) certification, or equivalent.
Experience/Skills:
Required: Five to ten years of recent experience working in Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis areas of the Laboratory. Demonstrated progressive supervisory experience.
Preferred: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Work is considered sedentary and requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
