How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:
Provides support for clinical and medical staff in the delivery of quality medical care. Assists with patient care as directed by the physician and clinical staff within scope of training. Will also be required to perform other department/unit tasks.
- Basic knowledge of instrumentations.
- Observe all safety precautions and standards; assures proper disposal of specimens and contaminated waste.
- Adheres to Policy and Procedures, all regulatory standards and Patient Safety Goals.
- Participates in unit educational activities.
- Disinfection of endoscopes and equipment, assisting during exams and procedures, setting up patient procedure rooms, and assisting the clinical team in delivering high quality professional care while achieving optimal patient satisfaction
- Exhibits competent knowledge of EMR and assists with chart audits.
- Demonstrates excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills when answering phones and interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
- Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance (refrigerator, code cart checks, glucose meters, equipment room storage, etc.).
- May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients per competencies if trained (define tasks).
- Participates in the sitter process (if competencies appropriate).
- Maintains patient, staff and customer confidentiality. Works is performed in patient care environment and it is often fast paced, requiring use of prioritization skills.
- Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
- Establish/Maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment when appropriate.
What We Require:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of SGNA Associate's Program required within one year of hire.
Experience: Healthcare experience preferred. Previous experience in direct patient care and scope reprocessing preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: GI Technical Specialist (GTS) required within one year of hire. Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor Certification recommended.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required within 60 days of hire.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills required. Must be organized and self-motivated. Satisfactory completion of structured orientation program.
