A well-respected, boutique litigation law firm has engaged SuiteSpot Executive Search, LLC to assist in its search for an Accounting Manager. Reporting to the Office Manager, this is an exempt salary position located in Indianapolis, IN.
The Position: The Accounting Manager will oversee all aspects of the Firm’s financial operations, including oversight of the cradle-to-grave billing process. Reporting to and working closely with the Office Manager, the Accounting Manager will provide day-to-day and strategic financial support to the Firm’s practice groups.
The Essentials:
- Responsible for the oversight and performance of all Firm financial operations, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger functions and timely reconciliation of bank accounts;
- Perform month-end and year-end balancing, reporting and closing of accounting periods;
- Maintain the Firm’s internal policies and controls designed to ensure integrity of financial data;
- Responsible for performing daily activities of the billing function to ensure operational needs of clients within the Firm are being met;
- Develop strong working relationships within the Firm and with clients in order to optimize the billing and collections process;
- Generate, distribute and process prebills for assigned attorneys at the start of the month and on an as-need basis;
- Follow up on outstanding prebills and invoices throughout the billing cycle, reconcile billing errors, perform cost-entries, and assist with client intake as needed;
- Analyze and resolve issues in client e-billing systems;
- Ensure compliance with client billing guidelines in coordination with billing attorneys and legal teams;
- Continuously develop improvements to accounting policies and initiatives to manage costs and maximize efficiency and profitability.
The Candidate: The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and at least five years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or other professional service setting.

- Reliability, flexibility and the ability to operate with a high degree of confidentiality;
- Proven experience with developing and/or improving accounting policies and procedures;
- Working knowledge of law firm accounting; Tabs3 software experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills;
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and the hours needed to accomplish the Firm’s expectations.
