SUMMARY The
Financial Analyst - Pediatrics Administration will provide analysis of business and management financial data needs in terms of systems requirements for the basic clinical research portfolio with the Division of Pediatrics. The Financial Analyst impacts operational procedures and practices throughout the institution.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related business specialty, and two years of business experience including project management, data analysis or accounting. Preferred candidates will have a strong accounting and/or finance background with excellent communication and analytical skills. Previous research experience is highly preferred. *** Job is remote / must live in Texas. Must be able to come onsite based on business needs.*** Financial Management and Reporting - Produces monthly summary and detail financial reports detailing departmental research related revenues and expenses by fund, account free balances, faculty and classified detail salary and fringe expenses. Analyzes variances and provides root cause to faculty/management.
- Assists with creating and maintaining department database for detailed transactions for all research projects; updates and upgrades queries and reports as required; publishes reports from this data as required.
- Develops and produces reporting needs for funding models.
- Ensures institutional funding opportunities such as ISA's, start-up funds and lab incentive programs are distributed according to policy.
- Develops and maintains tracking mechanism for all annual institutional and donor progress reporting.
- Prepares and distributes periodic routine reports. Gathers and analyzes data to prepare ad hoc reports requested by management and other customers.
- Determines personnel actions necessary to align with personnel forecasting and requests resources to submit these.
- Reviews final reports to ensure all expenditures are accounted for.
- Assists department leadership in the development of a comprehensive research financial portfolio quarterly and annually.
- Educates departmental personnel on reporting and financial systems.
Account Maintenance and Reconciliation - Oversees the day-to-day reconciliation of clinical research billings by the Division of Pediatrics faculty.
- Develop, implement and monitor processes to ensure all clinical research charges are appropriately captured.
- Ensures patient research charges are posted accurately in GL and EPIC systems.
- Ensures lab charges are billed accurately in Lab Track system and paid on the appropriate projects.
- Reviews patient data in CORe, and ensures all patients are captured for invoicing.
- Analyzes and ensures all research related invoicing is completed in accordance with contract agreements and is performed in a timely manner i.e. clinical trials, NIH, DOD, foundations and Cooperative Groups.
- Ensures payments are received and posted in a timely manner for all research related activity i.e. clinical trials, NIH, DOD, foundations, Cooperative Groups.
- Responsible for maintaining salary allocations for faculty and support for effort certification process.
- Track research personnel salaries to ensure the expenses are allocated to the correct grant account.
- Provide data and assistance to the Research Department Administrator during grant certification periods.
- Assures expenditures are in compliance with institutional and funding agency guidelines.
- Manages clinical and research projects to include clearing deficits, residual transfers, and closeout.
- Participates in institutional audits and statistical sample reconciliation to ensure compliance and successful performance.
- Interacts with all levels of personnel within the department, other institutional departments, as well as outside companies to resolve discrepancies or questions regarding grant tasks.
Budgeting and Forecasting - Works with department leadership to forecast projected expenses and revenues derived from grants and gifts.
- Assists the Department Administrator with the preparation of the annual revenue and expense budget for the department including preparation of worksheets and data entry into Hyperion.
- Ensures all grant related salaries are appropriately budgeted during the annual operating budget.
Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related business specialty.
Required Experience: Two years business experience to include project management, data analysis or accounting.
Preferred Experience: Five years business experience to include project management, data analysis or accounting.
