Position Summary
The External Reporting Accountant is responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual external reporting requirements and governance needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepares supporting documents that support the disclosures in the financial statements and filings.
- Prepares quarterly and year-end audit processes. Prepares and analyzes financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for the public company.
- Coordinates in audit process by coordinating needs of external auditors.
- Assists with Corporate Governance and Executive Compensation.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
- Utilizes SEC reporting software which includes document management and extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging.
- Responsible for special projects throughout the year.

- Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.
Required Qualifications
Education, Training and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent of education with two plus years of accounting and/or public company experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Personal Characteristics
- Computer skills, system database, spreadsheet software capabilities and ability to learn and utilize various software platforms.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Strong attention to detail; organized.
- Works well under pressure, meeting deadlines consistently.
- Able to work well independently with WFH environment.
- High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate.
- Effective interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret accounting reports, write reports, business correspondence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous accounting experience in a real estate environment and/or corporate accounting experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Nature of work requires an ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, and operate standard business office equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hybrid schedule with work performed in a general office environment based upon agreed upon days driven by deadlines. Generally, 3 days a week in the office. May require availability for extended hours during peak periods.
