The core functions within Financial Controls focus on the record-to-report cycle and include transaction recording, account reconciliation, transaction, financial and business performance reporting, budgeting and data analysis.
Role summary/purpose of job
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining firm and industry accounting standards to ensure proper controls and accurate and transparent reporting. Specifically, this role is responsible for preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, assisting with month-end close, preparing supporting schedules and monthly reports.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
- Prepare and record entries to the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze variances and provide detailed explanations.
- Discuss financial performance with management and provide related insights.
- Support accounts payable activities for accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare supporting documentation for month-end close, monthly reporting and annual audits.
- Adhere to and enforce firm accounting guidelines.
- Coordinate with the Global Finance Team to support global reporting needs and processes.
- Respond to inquiries and ad-hoc analysis, and other duties as assigned.
Key requirements (Communication/skills/experience)
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities with a focus on accuracy and effectiveness while working independently.
- Organized and flexible with an ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to prioritize daily workload while simultaneously managing multiple deliverables.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships across functions and geographies.
Desirable
- Prior experience working in a legal or professional services environment. Experience with 3E.
