Tri-City Electric Co. is currently seeking a Director of Accounting to oversee all aspects of our company’s accounting functions. This is an immediate opening in either Davenport or Des Moines, IA. The Director of Accounting will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices to optimize financial processes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Proficiency in multi-state sales and use taxes in the construction industry
- Performing review of sales and use tax reports, managing sales and use tax exemption compliance, and filing of sales and use tax returns in numerous states
- Review monthly billings submissions for accuracy
- Review monthly cash and costs to complete projections
- Prepare monthly executive summary review of project(s)
- Monthly reconciliations of various GL accounts
- Monthly bank reconciliation
- Monthly preparation of financial statements
- Review retainage release reports, both AR and AP
- Assist with monthly work in progress reports
- Managing the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing functions
- Manage banking relationship, including line of credit, business accounts, and investments
- Accounting, payroll, and reporting for various entities
- Assistance with year-end financial statement audit and other audits as required
- Development and implementation of new or improved accounting processes and workflow
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, Finance, or other related degree
- Five years of accounting/financial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with ERP systems preferred
- CPA license preferred
Candidates must possess strong attention to detail, tact, and consideration, Microsoft Office proficiency, focus on accuracy, solid communication skills, positive initiative and judgement, the ability to problem solve, self-motivation, business acumen, and be organized.
