Summary: Hart Energy, leader in energy content, is seeking a skilled Assistant Controller. The professional must possess solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. Candidates should command a knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), be able to communicate with all levels of management, and proactively drive actionable conclusions from the reporting of financials.

Ongoing responsibilities include:
- Lead the month-end process through full financial statement preparation.
- Complete month-end true-ups, accruals, depreciation and amortization; ensuring timely and accurate monthly closing by stipulated deadlines.
- Lead and manage all functions related to receivables, payables, G/L, inter-company accounts and assist treasury department with bank balances and cash management.
- Develop, review and post general journal entries.
- Prepare daily and monthly financial reports/statements and maintain full set of accounts, general ledgers, and journals according to US GAAP and company accounting policies. This is to include the oversight and management of recurring reporting processes including revenue recognition, customer analysis, contract management, sales commissions, deferred revenue reporting and various KPI's.
- Interpret operating results and make specific recommendations which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.
- Participate in other accounting processes as necessary.
- Develop, review and approve all balance sheet reconciliations.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Advanced spreadsheet skills, Sage Intacct Accounting System or similar mid-market system.
- 6 years of progressive career development.
- Previous experience in public accounting, private or private equity backed organization a plus.
- Prior supervisory experience; well developed leadership skills.
- Attention to detail, deadline driven.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting.
- Advanced degree in a related discipline a plus
- Current CPA a plus.
This is not a remote position. The candidate will need to reside in the Houston or surrounding area.
