They believe in supporting their employees and empowering them to produce excellent results. This Senior Revenue Accountant supports the proper accounting for ASC 606 Revenue Recognition. This role will focus primarily on software revenue but will also have a component of budgeting and cost tracking associated with another line of business to track profitability on projects more closely.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with the ASC 606 revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP.
- Facilitate the month-end close process which includes the preparation of receivable reconciliations around deferred revenue and progress billings.
- Assist with research and preparation of accounting policy memos with support of the Manager.
- Manage monthly and quarterly close process for customer accounts as it relates to revenue, cost of revenue, deferred revenue, and accrued accounts receivable.
- Document revenue recognition position on new customer contracts.
- Review contracts to identify accounting issues and to monitor compliance with the company's revenue recognition policies.
- Respond to customer requests related to supplier setup and invoicing.
- Assist sales, legal, and pricing teams with contract negotiations by participating in discussions, reviewing draft contracts, and providing revenue recognition recommendations.
- Provide guidance to groups outside of corporate accounting, including legal, sales, and finance to ensure all sources of revenue are properly reviewed for accounting purposes and processed timely.
- Monitor industry/regulatory changes with respect to revenue recognition, and lead development of new processes and policies to accommodate accordingly.
- Assist in the preparation and expansion of the monthly financial reporting and analysis package.
- Track various revenue and expense metrics; develop dashboards to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Develop profitability studies of each major account to ensure company profitability targets are being met.
- Other special projects and duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3 or more years of experience as a financial analyst and/or related accounting role.
- Must have advanced Excel proficiency.
- Roll up your sleeves attitude with a can-do mindset.
