Overview:
The Senior Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Assembly Expert is a detail-oriented professional that oversees the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a small prototype PCB assembly area to include all associated equipment, tooling, and processes.
You'd like to do this:
- Produces limited runs of prototype assemblies using a stencil printer, pick and place machine, and a reflow oven.
- Assists and teaches hand solder installation/rework methods down to 0201 size.
- Properly handles the receipt and disposal of HAZMAT/HAZWASTE according to the facility’s requirements.
- Directly advises and assists customer electrical engineers on layout design and panelization strategies to aid manufacturing and downstream processing.
- Educates engineers on design for manufacturing best practices.
- Assists quality officers with X-Ray inspection of QFNs, BGAs, etc.
- Educates designers in house prototype production methods and out of house commercially available methods.
- Provides guidance to electrical engineers on stencil aperture design.
- Develops and helps implement training courses on PCB Assembly and Rework processes and equipment.
- Creates and documents SOPs for the use of specialized chemical and mechanical PCB manufacturing processes.
- Serves as a technical advisor to engineers and buyers for contract assembly services.
- Documents and maintains a maintenance and repair program for all PCB Assembly equipment.
- Coordinates with the Electronic Stockroom Support personnel to maintain consumable stock levels sufficient for ongoing engineering requests.
- Continually researches emerging manufacturing technologies and makes recommendations for potential implementation.
- Works in close coordination with PCB Fabrication Experts and eCAD Librarians to ensure a quality product is produced.
- Maintains familiarity with current industry standards for PCB fabrication (Ex: IPC-A-600 and IPC-6012).
- Mentors and educates Junior PCB Assembly Specialists.
You're required to have this:
- 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience with PCB Assembly to include Automated and Manual assembly methods.
- Experience programming pick and place machines.
- Experience with stencil design and reflow recipe creation.
- Active TS/SCI w/polygraph.
