Position: Staff Accountant
Short Job Description
An effective Staff Accountant is an efficient leader and problem solver who uses accounting best practices combined with good people skills to implement new processes and improve upon existing ones. The Liquivida Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the Accounting department for 5 entities in the organization, including several brick-and-mortar wellness centers, the franchisor company, and the distribution/e-commerce outlet. This role will also assist in the training of franchisees in revenue recording and payment reconciliation. This position will report to the CFO/ Vice President.
What We Are Looking For
- Perform full-cycle accounting for multiple entities
- Record and reconcile daily revenue and inventory/expense activities for multiple entities
- Perform month-end close activities including detailed review of GL, revenue recognition, complex journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis between multiple subsidiaries through intercompany transactions
- Prepare inventory adjustments, maintain prepaid, accruals
- Manage inventory valuation for cost analysis
- Reconcile intercompany transactions
- Work with CFO, CPA, and external auditors for annual audit work
- Leverage Liquivida’s accounting system to produce financial reports. Maintain the confidentiality of all business financials.
- Develop, maintain, and follow procedures to ensure Liquivida’s accounting function is compliant with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Contribute to the development of internal controls to confirm the completion and accuracy of routine accounting responsibilities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and accuracy of underlying accounting records and accounting systems/applications and reduce time to close.
- Invoice franchisees and subsidiaries for shared company expenses every month
- Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to solve challenging, complex issues in a collaborative environment.
- Follow up with franchisee's complex accounting issues
- Oversee and record expense reporting from team members
- Analyze A/R or A/P accounts to ensure there are no errors in the system
- Research and resolve discrepancies with other Staff Accountants, Store Managers, and CFOs as needed
- Assist management with special projects when requested
- Assist in growing the Accounting department
Qualifications/Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
- 4 years of Accounting experience
- Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational skills
Education/Experience Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
- Master’s degree in Accounting or finance is a plus
- Achievement of the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designations is a plus
- Experience in Franchise Accounting is a plus
