Position Summary
The
Senior Accountant will oversee general accounting operations and validate financial transactions. Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciliations, maintaining the trial balance and performing month-end close procedures. The individual will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. This role reports to the
Director of Financial Reporting and is based out of our Cherry Hill, NJ location.
Primary Responsibilities Include
- Prepare and enter recurring journal entries for month end and year end
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Maintain Fixed Asset System including opening/closing projects, reconciliations, and reporting
- Preparation of financial reports including variance analysis to budget/PY
- Assist in yearend audit
- Maintain prepaid and accrual schedules to ensure items are recorded in the correct period
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Interact with various departments during month and year end process
- Analyze, investigate and reconcile annual and monthly general ledger accounts
- Provide support to the plant and corporate staff in various Ad-hoc projects as needed
- Maintain company internal controls by following policies and procedures; complying with Federal, state, and local financial legal requirements
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Plan, assign and review staff’s work
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate correction actions
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Meet financial accounting and corporate objectives
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage 1-2 employees
- Responsible for developing department budget and maintaining cost to budget
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
- Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and assessing job results; coaching, and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Establishes strategic goals; identifying and evaluating trends; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; evaluating outcomes.
Education And Experience
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 2 -4 years prior experience
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
- Strong analytical skills with a thorough understanding of US GAAP
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
- CPA preferred
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.
FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.
OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20 – 35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.
