Sr Analyst, Sales and Use Tax
Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Sales and Use Tax Analyst with experience, technical knowledge, continuous improvement mindset and communication skills to join the Relativity Tax Team. The highly motivated candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations for Relativity by optimizing processes, data analysis and technology. This position will work closely with Tax, Accounting, Sales, IT, Legal, Tax Jurisdictions and External Providers. This role reports to the Director, Tax.
Job Description and Requirements
Responsibilities
- Responsible for indirect taxes including sales and use tax, VAT, GST, research escheatment, process all property taxes and any other applicable matters.
- Prepare tax exemption certificates and ensure compliance with all indirect tax requirements.
- Conduct tax reviews for self-assessment, perform routine month-end close tax balance sheet account reconciliations, and all other ad-hoc requests.
- Provide expertise for AP and AR groups on payables and receivables in anticipation of new or evolving business practices or tax legislation.
- Support indirect tax audits, respond to all regulatory agencies regarding support and documentation requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree in accounting or tax (preferred but not required).
- 5+ years’ experience successfully managing sales and use tax required.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems in a timely manner with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be local to Illinois and/or within the Central Standard Time Zone.
- Detail oriented, ability to meet deadlines.
- Robust technology skills, using tax software and general ledger systems – preference for Avalara, Sage Intacct, Salesforce and Concur systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to deliver results under pressure with competing priorities.
- Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
- Ability to function as a leader and team player.
Compensation
Relativity is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices. This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives. The expected salary range for this role is between $85,000 and $127,000. The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.
