Job Description
The Accounting Generalist is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and payment collection for all hotel accounts.
Competitive Salary: $48,000 - $57,000 gross annually, based on previous experience and education.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurate and timely invoicing of tours, FITs, conferences and weddings as per contract, involving Front Office, Sales & Conference Services, F&B and Encore as necessary.
- Prompt and effective collection of all accounts including final balance, advance deposits, cancellations, and prepaid accounts. Maintenance of Aging within acceptable levels.
- Liaise with Sales & Conference Services on estimated revenues and deposit schedules and scope.
- Determination of group commission.
- Perform solvency and credit checks per NCA Standard Operating Procedures.
- Participate in pre-conference meetings and be available to review billing on a daily basis if requested by the client.
- Conduct monthly credit meetings involving accounting, senior management, front office/reservations, banquet and sales.
- Reconcile specific AR accounts at month-end.
- Contribute to and implement department operational improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Hospitality/Tourism.
- 1-2 years of experience working in an Accounts Receivable role, ideally in a hotel environment.
- Knowledge of Opera is an asset.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Thoughtful and reasonable problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Able to work effectively and efficiently both independently and within a team environment.
