Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Flow Cytometry Analyst is a licensed Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) who is responsible for day to day flow cytometry analysis and results reporting, as well as day to day processing of samples within the Laboratory. The Flow Cytometry Analyst performs the standard duties of a Medical Technologist I and will consult Medical Technologist III if necessary.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support PathGroup's mission, vision, goals and management decisions.
- Receive and process specimens according to department protocols
- Assists the Supervisor, Manager and Director with administrative functions such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
- Data analysis and technical interpretation of all flow cytometry data generated in the clinical flow cytometry laboratory.
- Test areas include, but are not limited to, leukemia and lymphoma phenotyping, PNH testing, CD3 enumeration, and stem cell enumeration.
- Communicate directly with pathologists regarding test results, interpretations, and compilation of clinical reports.
- Perform within the productivity and turnaround time expectations as set forth by current departmental guidelines.
- Perform all duties of a Medical Technologist I with little to no assistance.
- Display satisfactory clinical competency on standard procedures.
- Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
- Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting of patient samples.
- Communicate pertinent section information/issues to supervisor, manager or other appropriate individual.
- Assist in documentation and maintaining effective department QA/QC programs and monitors.
- Work with other departments within PathGroup and its subsidiaries.
- Become familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
- Perform within the productivity expectations as set forth by current departmental guidelines.

- Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday 7am - 3:30pm
Requirements
EDUCATION & LICENSURE:
- Bachelors' Degree required
- National certification as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Flow Cytometry or as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other certifying body is required.
- Must maintain appropriate continuing education for certification/licensure, and to increase basic knowledge.
EXPERIENCE:
- More than one year of technical experience required in Flow Cytometry.
- More than two years of experience required analyzing Flow Cytometry data of human samples.
- Must have proven track record in physician, employee, and client relationships.
